Certificate III in Investigative Services Course

The Certificate III in Investigative Services is for those persons who want to extend their knowledge and experience in the field of investigative services in the context of their current employment or to improve future employment opportunities through formal Qualifications.

This Qualification is about providing the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to undertake investigative services; it is not intended to cover every facet of investigative services due to the broad nature of client requirements.).

The qualification is one of the most sought after Nationally recognised Qualifications within the security industry.

Participants receive comprehensive learning materials and trainer support. Presented using a combination of in-class and external study or external only with an immediate start.

The Certificate III in Investigative Services incorporates leadership and investigative skills with the process for the development and implementation of investigative services.

The Certificate III in Investigative Services provides learners with the knowledge and skills to provide investigative services to those clients who wish utilise their skills such as; to defend themselves in court matters through proof of evidence, organisations who wish to obtain evidence of criminal activity against or within the organisation, and Government bodies wishing to undertake a search for particular persons.

• Understand the threat assessment process
• To undertake investigative services, conducting surveillance tasks, provide effective reporting and manage sensitive and personal information and documents;
• ISO 27043:2015 Information technology — Security techniques — Incident investigation principles and processes;
• 17020:2012 Conformity assessment – Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection (suitable to conduct Crime Scene Investigations); and
• ISO 22380:2018 Security and resilience — Authenticity, integrity and trust for products and documents — General principles for product fraud risk and countermeasures.

This Qualification may be suitable for experienced personnel within the security industry who may wish to advance their career by entering the private investigation field or provide investigative services as part of their job role.

This also relates to experienced investigators with Qualifications and skills obtained through other sources of employment or training; such as the Police Force. They may choose to formalise their experience by attaining this Qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning or Current Competency.

• Must live in and have a Western Australian residential address.
• Applicants must demonstrate good language, literacy and numeracy required at this level. A LLN assessment may be conducted at pre-enrolment to assess whether the applicant requires LLN support for this training
• Participants may choose to undertake an LLN assessment with one of our qualified assessors prior to committing to their enrolment in this qualification
• It is expected that the candidate has a strong background working in the Security Industry.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills are also required for entry into this qualification.

The Certificate III in Investigative Services course is structured to be delivered over 5 days of classroom attendance, each day consisting of 8 hours of face-to-face delivery.

The course commences with an intensive 5 day block, then 4 tutorials are scheduled after the course is delivered. These tutorials, of two days duration, are used to guide learners through their learning, projects and assessments.

Tutorial Attendance is mandatory.

A training and assessment diary may be completed at enrolment or on completion of the face to face delivery phase to ensure that you are staying on track with your course completion. The point being, you complete your much-needed qualification regardless of current circumstance or time restraints from where ever you are in Australia. You may also be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

You will have access to our highly qualified industry experienced Trainer who can provide you with guidance to assist you with completion timeframes for each unit to suit your study goals! To achieve a nationally-recognised qualification, participants are required to complete an assessment project, complete course readings and written assessments. Assessment details will be provided with course materials.

Assessment due date – as agreed with the learner and outlined within the training and assessment plan.

A testamur for the qualification CPP30619 Certificate III in Investigative Services will be issued following successful completion of this course and can be used to seek credit transfer towards achieving an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning is available to persons who have extensive experience in the investigative and related fields. If you have over 12 months of experience in the field of investigations, you should consider the RPL process by undertaking a self-assessment against the competency standards of this qualification.

Assessment is conducted via a detailed portfolio of evidence, workbook, questions and written scenarios to support your claim for RPL. Further information about the RPL process will be explained prior to enrolment with any of our training assessors. Where you and your Impact assessor can identify if there are any requirements for further training, you may choose to do this through the completion of individual units (at an additional fee).
