Hospital Security Course in Perth

The Hospital Security course is for those seeking employment working in a healthcare or hospital environment. A Certificate II in Security Operations does not prepare you for employment within this environment.

Too often our Healthcare clients discuss the issues with untrained staff being sent to site, only to not know what is expected of them or how to respond to healthcare and mental health emergency situations.

Healthcare workers are more likely to be subjected to workplace violence than any other industry and having well trained and prepared security officers is vital to ensure worker and patient safety.

This course is an introductory program into healthcare security and safety, and defines security’s role within a healthcare organisation and managing high risk situations. This course has been developed to meet the needs of our healthcare clients and will provide a good base of skills and knowledge to commence work within the healthcare or hospital environment.

This will be suited to the following job roles:

• Hospital or healthcare security officer,
• Anyone currently employed, or seeking professional development within the Australian security industry

Participants may be a minimum age of 18 years to attend and hold a Western Australian Security Licence

Must live in and have a Western Australian residential address.

Applicants must demonstrate good language, literacy and numeracy as our courses combine plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners are able to have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and developing the skills that will be needed in their job role.

All students must bring ID with them to the training course. Photo ID is the minimum requirement (e.g. Security Licence, Drivers Licence, Passport or similar). 100 points of identification

USI Number Requirements:

All students doing nationally recognised training from January 1, 2018 need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). For more details and to create a USI go to the Government USI site here.

The Hospital Security course is a combined delivery structure and comprises a pre-course component followed by our five (5) day (8 hour) in-class practical course.

The course also has been structured to allow for flexible delivery or personal choice for learner attendance. To gain employment using our course as a segue, you must complete the first four (4) days, as the practical activities and assessments are clustered together on day four (4).

Pre-course study takes on average 8-10 hours depending on the individual student and their personal circumstances and other commitments). Pre-course training must be completed prior to the face-to-face training where possible; your course will not be completed until homework is submitted.

The Hospital Security course is presented via a combination of structured tutorials, workshops, case studies, video, practical assignments and workplace application. Individual and group work activities and assessment activities are conducted throughout the course.

All trainers and assessors are recognised industry experts, holding relevant experience and training qualifications. They include security industry specialists, former serving police officers, military personnel and emergency response and medical specialists

To achieve a nationally recognised qualification, participants are required to complete the pre-course assessment, practical assessment and written assessments. Assessment details will be provided with course materials.

Physical Requirements:

It is important to note that the Hospital Security course requires a level of physical ability to complete practical assessments. All students are required to undertake physical restraint techniques and when undertaking HLTAID014 they must be able to perform 2 minutes of CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor.

If your health or fitness will not allow you to demonstrate this, you will not be awarded a nationally accredited certificate.

Language Skills:

All students must be able to demonstrate an accurate verbal report which would be given to emergency services or a workplace supervisor.

A Statement of Attainment will be issued following successful completion of this course and can be used to seek credit transfer towards achieving an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification.

Assessment is conducted via a detailed portfolio of evidence, workbook, questions and written scenarios to support your claim for RPL. Further information about the RPL process will be explained prior to enrolment with any of our training assessor. Where you and your Impact assessor can identify if there are any requirements for further training, you may choose to do this through the completion of individual units (at an additional fee)

Fee for service – $1600 ($500 non-refundable deposit on enrolment) for the first four (4) days; or

Fee for service – $1800 ($500 non-refundable deposit on enrolment) for the full five (5) days

RPL – $350 ($200 non-refundable deposit on enrolment) excludes gap training

Gap training per UoC $250 each, unless otherwise discussed

Fees include all assessments and resources required in the classroom. Students should wear appropriate clothing to kneel and bend in to complete the practical.
