Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND)

The RTO is committed to providing inclusive and supportive training environments for all learners. As part of the enrolment process, we seek to ensure that prospective students have the language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills required to successfully participate in their chosen course.

Where appropriate, learners may undertake an LLND assessment prior to enrolment to help determine whether the course is suitable for their current skill level and to identify any support that may assist their learning.

Digital literacy for training delivered by the RTO includes the ability to:

  • Operate a computer, tablet, or similar device
  • Connect to and use the internet
  • Access and navigate our Learning Management System (LMS), aXcelerate

Learners come from diverse backgrounds with varying levels of education and life experience. The RTO aims to provide flexible and culturally responsive learning environments and encourages prospective students to discuss any learning needs during the enquiry or enrolment process.

Academic Integrity and Use of Technology

The RTO supports the ethical use of technology within training and assessment. Learners are expected to submit their own work and demonstrate their own knowledge and skills when completing assessment tasks.

Where technology tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), are used to assist learning or research, learners must ensure that the work submitted reflects their own understanding and competency.

If an assessor reasonably believes that submitted work does not represent the learner’s own knowledge or skills, additional verification methods may be used. This may include verbal questioning, practical demonstration, or supplementary assessment activities.

Further details are outlined in the Student Handbook and Academic Integrity policies available on our website and the aXcelerate Learning Management System (LMS).

Reasonable Adjustment

The RTO is committed to providing an inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of all learners.

Where required, reasonable adjustments may be applied to training delivery, learning resources, or assessment methods to support participation and ensure equitable access to training.

Any adjustments made will maintain the integrity of the qualification and the competency standards required by industry and training package requirements. Learners must still demonstrate all required skills and knowledge to be deemed competent.

Reasonable adjustments are discussed with the learner and implemented where appropriate to support participation without compromising assessment validity.

Our staff aim to create a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment that supports learners from diverse backgrounds, including students from regional areas, culturally diverse communities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Where appropriate, the RTO works with community organisations and partners to support culturally appropriate training delivery and learner engagement.

Further details regarding fees, refunds, complaints, appeals, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and learner support services are available in the Student Handbook and associated policies available on our website and the aXcelerate Learning Management System (LMS).

Assessment and Trainer Support

To achieve a nationally recognised qualification, learners are required to complete a range of written, practical, and/or knowledge-based assessments that demonstrate competency in each unit of study.

Assessment requirements, including task instructions, formats, and timeframes, are provided to learners during the course and before assessment activities are undertaken.

Training and assessment may be delivered flexibly to accommodate individual learner needs and workplace contexts. Depending on the qualification and industry requirements, practical assessment activities may be conducted in a simulated environment or within an appropriate workplace setting.

Learners are supported throughout their training by qualified and industry-experienced trainers and assessors who provide guidance, feedback, and assistance with learning and assessment activities. Trainers are available to clarify course content, explain assessment processes, and support learners who may require additional assistance during their studies.

  • All assessment conducted by Core Training Group is designed and implemented in accordance with the Principles of Assessment and the Rules of Evidence as required under the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2025.

Assessment practices aim to ensure that outcomes are:

  • Valid, reliable, flexible, and fair, ensuring assessment accurately reflects the learner’s competency.
  • Current, sufficient, authentic, and valid, with appropriate evidence collected to demonstrate competency requirements.
  • Transparent, with learners informed in advance of assessment requirements, processes, and expectations.
  • Clear and consistent, with assessment tasks containing explicit instructions and reviewed regularly to maintain relevance and quality.
  • Inclusive and culturally appropriate, ensuring assessment methods are appropriate and free from bias.
  • Time-appropriate, allowing learners sufficient opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.

To be deemed competent, learners must:

  • Demonstrate the required skills and knowledge across all elements and performance criteria of each unit of competency within the qualification.
  • Achieve satisfactory performance across all required assessment tasks in accordance with the training package requirements.

Assessment authenticity:

To maintain the integrity of nationally recognised training, learners must ensure that all assessment evidence submitted represents their own work and demonstrates their own knowledge and skills.

Where required, the RTO may implement additional evidence verification methods, which may include:

  • Verbal questioning,
  • Practical demonstration,
  • Review of workplace evidence, or
  • Additional assessment activities.

These processes help confirm that assessment evidence is authentic, valid, and meets the competency requirements of the training product.

The RTO also uses digital engagement monitoring through the learning management system (LMS) to support assessment authenticity and learner participation and completion tracking.

Further information regarding academic integrity, assessment requirements, and learner responsibilities is outlined in the Student Handbook, relevant policies and the aXcelerate LMS.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The RTO is committed to recognising the existing skills and knowledge of learners. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available to all prospective and enrolled students and allows individuals to have their prior learning assessed against nationally recognised units of competency.

Learners are encouraged to discuss RPL options with our team before enrolment or at any time during their course to determine whether this pathway may be suitable.

Our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process allows these existing competencies to be assessed against the requirements of nationally recognised units of competency.

Learners who believe they already have the required skills and knowledge may apply for RPL prior to enrolment or during the course, subject to the requirements of the training product.

During the RPL process, learners will work with a qualified assessor to gather and present evidence demonstrating their competency. This may involve developing a portfolio of evidence that shows how their previous experience aligns with the unit requirements.

To support this process, Core Training Group provides RPL information guides and documentation explaining the steps involved and the type of evidence that may be required.

Evidence used during RPL assessment may include, but is not limited to:

  • Self-assessment tools or competency discussions
  • Written knowledge questions or assessment activities
  • Observation or demonstration of practical skills
  • Third-party reports or supervisor testimonials
  • Workplace documents and work samples
  • Certified copies of previous qualifications or statements of attainment
  • Résumés or job descriptions outlining relevant experience

An assessor will review the evidence provided and determine whether it meets the training package requirements for competency.

Where gaps in evidence are identified, learners may be required to complete additional training or assessment activities to demonstrate competency. Any associated fees or training requirements will be discussed with the learner before proceeding.

Further information about the RPL process is available in the Student Handbook and RPL policies available on our website and the aXcelerate LMS once you have enrolled.

Credit Transfer

Credit Transfer recognises units of competency that have been previously completed through a nationally recognised training organisation.

Learners who have completed relevant units with another RTO may apply for credit transfer by providing a verified statement of attainment or qualification certificate.

Where the unit codes and outcomes match the current training product requirements, the credit will be applied to the learner’s course without the need for further assessment.
