The Certificate IV in Security Risk Analysis is for security risk analysts who apply technical security and operations expertise in a risk management environment. Security risk analysts understand the current threat environment and assess risk and advise clients on strategies to ensure the protection of electronic security systems and people and property in crowded places, as defined by Australia’s Strategy for Protecting Crowded Places from Terrorism (2017).
The qualification is one of the most sought after Nationally recognised Qualifications within the security industry.
This qualification provides occupational specialisations in electronic security and crowded places, and a pathway to further learning and work in security risk management.
Legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply in some states and territories to the provision of advice on security solutions, strategies, protocols and procedures. For further information, check with the relevant regulatory authority.
Participants receive comprehensive learning materials, a copy of ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management and trainer support. Presented using a combination of in-class and external study or external only with an immediate start.
Those with little or no understanding of risk management; or those who want to extend their knowledge and experience in the field of managing risk strategically in the context of their current employment or to improve future employment opportunities through formal qualifications.
This qualification is about providing the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to manage risk strategically; it is not intended to cover every facet of Risk Management planning and implementation.
The Cert IV in Security Risk Analysis training is about providing the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to undertake job roles such as Risk Consultants or Security Managers. This also relates to experienced consultants or managers with Qualifications and skills obtained through other sources of employment or training; such as the Police Force, Corrections and Defence. They may choose to formalise their experience by attaining this Qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning or Current Competency.
This will be suited to the following job roles:
- Event security manager,
- Security risk adviser, or
- Security risk analyst.

- Must live in and have a Western Australian residential address.
- Applicants must demonstrate good language, literacy and numeracy required at this level. A LLN assessment may be conducted at pre-enrolment to assess whether the applicant requires LLN support for this training .
- Participants may choose to undertake an LLN assessment with one of our qualified assessors prior to committing to their enrolment in this qualification .
- It is expected that the candidate has a strong background working in the Security Industry minimum up to three (3) years, but not essential. Experience in Work Health and Safety is also acceptable.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills are also required for entry into this qualification.

The Cert IV in Security Risk Analysis course will be delivered face-to-face intensively over five (5) days of class attendance, each with a minimum of eight (8) hours of face-to-face delivery. There is self-paced learning and face to face guidance and meetings required to meet WAPOL Security Licensing Branch training hours.
An initial five (5) days of classroom attendance is required to commence the course; this is for those who are not seeking to RPL any units of competency; this is used to deliver the initial course content. There is a requirement for students to undertake unsupervised learning in developing Security Risk Management plan and ensure that supervised hours are being met.
Nominal training hours for this Qualification equals to 100 hours, which is broken down into approximately 40 hours of supervised instruction and 60 hours of unsupervised activities in the development of a real-time Risk Management Plan.
3 tutorials are scheduled after the course is delivered. These tutorials, of two days duration, are used to guide learners through their Security Risk Analysis projects and assessments.
These tutorials are scheduled 24 & 25 September, 21 & 22 October and 25 & 26 November. Attendance is not mandatory, but does benefit the learner greatly.
A training and assessment training plan may be completed at enrolment or on completion of the face-to-face delivery phase to ensure that you are staying on track with your course completion. The point being, you complete your much needed qualification regardless of current circumstance or time restraints from where ever you are in Australia. You may also be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
